Suave Groundhog Farm was
established in 2003 when we purchased our first flock of day old
chicks. (Who knew that chicks came in the mail!) The dairy
goats soon followed and hogs were added as a 4-H project the following
year. Toby bought his first real tractor at a farm auction from
our good neighbor Marg Snyder and with the close supervision and
guidance from our farm mentor Emmert Moler, we planted and harvested our
first crop of alfalfa hay in 2007.
dairy goats take center stage with our newly launched Grade A creamery
where we craft the goat cheeses and yogurts that are sold locally at
farmers' markets, served in local restaurants or bought directly from
the farm in our "mini store". We yearly show the goats at the
Leetown ADGA affiliated show, and participate in linear appraisal that
has been a tremendous tool in improving our herd. We also benefit
from participation in the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable
Aggriculture's ongoing conference and educational workshops and field
sell show quality purebred French Alpine dairy does for milk production
and breeding, and buck kids for breeding, meat, brush control or
companion animals. Check out our Herd and "for sale" pages.
also offer farm fresh pastured eggs, alfalfa and mixed grass hay, and
will soon be offering shares of our premium whey fed pork.
